My Things Poem by Lloyd Savage

My Things

As you can see
I've may have lots of trophys on my walls
And trinkets on my shelves;
And yet here most of all,
Some things still are left.
Yes, hidden away from your view
Are the things of my heart;
They're my fondest memories of you
Of which I'll never part!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I know folks who have lots of things as we all do. Yet in this poem I say that despite that the real treasure is what one feels about you in their heart. Keep this and no one can ever take that away from you. If however you harbour unforgiveness and ill feelings toward someone you'll poison your very essence from what you could have had there instead.
