My Thoughts Assume An Independent Existence In Me. Poem by Dr. Antony Theodore

My Thoughts Assume An Independent Existence In Me.

Rating: 5.0

To encounter God,
first i should encounter myself.
I should be with myself.
Usually i am not with myself.

When i observe myself,
then i understand that
my thoughts Wander,
sway back and forth.
I am somewhere else
with my thoughts, not by myself.

With me i have no contact.

My thoughts rip me away
and lead me from my own self.

My thoughts assume an
independent existence in me.

I do not rule over my thoughts.
My thoughts rule me over.

How can i demand from God
that He listens to me
when i am not able to listen to myself?

A very insightful write that most of all can relate. The first stanza expresses it all. Liked how the Poet ended the poem. Powerful closure lines. Well penned.

Hey, Tony! Good to see another new poem. I am convinced that God, being spirit, speaks primarily to our spirits in what we usually call our hearts. And the value I see in meditation is to become acquainted with our own thoughts and thought processes. This feel for what is ours then better helps us distinguish that which may come from God. May God be heard and obeyed by us. Glen
