My Wish Poem by Bening Parwitasukci

My Wish

Friends,
I want you to know that
if ever anything happens to me and
you find me lying on the floor
hopelessly exhausted and
desperately giving up,
promise me, please, that
you would pull me up and
make me stand tall on my feet again
and push me to go on fighting.
Don’t… Don’t let me give up.
I give you the liberty
to slap me on my face,
to kick my buts the hardest possible
to wake me up from the false peace
of my tempting dreams to give up.
Don’t let me give up, please,
even when I have to pay with my blood,
even when it costs me my life,
don’t let me give up,
please.

At the end of the battle,
alive or dead,
I want to declare proudly that
I have done my best,
to be the best of me.
I have done my best,
to make the best of me,
I have done my best,
For me.
