Elia Michael

Namesake - Poem by Elia Michael

You are the one I never did meet
You my namesake I will never greet
Cruel fate is a cliche yes I know
That does not take away the pain though
Or make it any the less true
That in never having known you
My soul does quiver in disbelief
That my heart can know such grief

Poet's Notes about The Poem

A brother of mine who was called Elias (as am I) who died before I was born

An intriguing short poem. I wonder what it is about? (Report) Reply
