Neil Armstrong's Spacesuit Poem by Sheena Blackhall

Neil Armstrong's Spacesuit

Rating: 5.0

Neil Armstrong's spacesuit's
Still covered with grey lunar dust
One of man's stepping stones to the universe
600 million people watched his mesmeric moonwalk

It stays in a space-suit morgue
Space suits R.I.P,their resting place
A fridge-like crypt for astronauts' accessories
150 spacesuits—white, green, bright royal blue
Stuffed with soft mannequins, viewed by special request

The suits lie on their backs,
Five to a cart, and swathed in muslin
Eerie, otherworldly

A cartful of gloves
A cartful ofboots
A cartful of bulbous helmets

Neil Armstrong's suit weighs 80pounds,
Has 21 layers…the suit of a National icon
It went on tour for a year, visiting each state's capital
Gifted by NASA to the Smithsonian
Like a Holy relic, before its adoring public

Does it dream, this suit of its former glory days?
Does it miss the moon, its love, its raison d'être?

His mesmeric moonwalk was watched by 600 million people and this is really an interesting fact. This poem is very informative and based upon NASA's space mission. Thank you for sharing this brilliant and excellent poem.10
