Nellie Bly Poem by Ima Ryma

Nellie Bly

Nellie Bly, reporter, did get
Publisher, Joe Pulitzer, to,
In eighteen eighty seven, let
Her on assignment to pursue
Abuse in New York's Blackwell's Isle
Insane Asylum where she went,
Pretending insanity while
Exposing abuse evident.
She lived the horror for ten days,
Then Pulitzer did get her out.
A daring news trail Bly did blaze.
She was a pioneer no doubt.

Her 'Ten Days in a Mad House' book
Gave the public a close up look.
