Never Ask Poem by Cris Ben

Never Ask

Never ask if you make me happy
For I hate to see your dear eyes cry
But if one day you must
I shall just give you a blank stare so faint that breaks after a sweet slice of smile on my face
Put your ears together, a heart
Listen close to my verses that hopefully you'll turn into your song
You don't just give me happiness
You give me sunrises and sunsets
That clothe me golden and my worth just shines
You give me the mountain and the ocean breeze
Canticles carrying me gently on sparkling waves
To every journey, to every moment, my life
You give me wild flowers and steadfast trees
Oh the scent and landscape of a home
You give me butterflies and music from the hills
You give me water cascading and streaming
Down towards a quiet solemn pond
Bequeathing a calming silence
That many aren't favored to find
My darling you give me all those gems in the sky
That I keep in my twinkling eyes
A place where rainbows were born
A spinning world of dreams and paradise
Yes you don't just give me happiness my dear
But most of all...
You give me a marriage of peace and delight
Betrothed kisses, two souls weaving love.
