Never, Ever Again Poem by Randy McClave

Never, Ever Again

Never, ever again
Will I seek your arm,
To help me to stand
Or to pull me out of harm.
For you I will not be there
As I have many times before,
Now I'll keep my hands in my pockets
If you come knocking on my door.

I had thought of you
Because I once held your hand,
When you were stumbling
So, proudly I helped you stand.
I helped you walk
When you knew that you couldn't,
No one else would
And they said to me I shouldn't.

Once I needed your arm
So, confidentially I made a call,
But, you never arrived
So, of course I did fall.
I have many times helped you stand
After where you had been,
But, if again you need my help
Never, ever again.
