Never Will This Come To Be. Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Never Will This Come To Be.

When might it happen ~ when might it be?
When will a God-loving society
turn into a Godless entity?
When will Cathedrals, Temples and Churches
come down...when will we derobe the
Archbishop, Archdeacon, Clergy, the Crown,
burn the black cassock and the white linen
surplice, tear up the prayer book, hymnal and
Bible, ignoring the stories of Jesus' Disciples?

How can we obliterate religious words
from the dictionary of christianity?
And there are many ~ just hearken to me:
monastic, archangel, holy and divine,
and the Altar and the bread and the wine.
Easter and Christmas would be no more.
Ten Commandments we would tend to ignore.
And never again would our dear world shine
if a God-loving society turned Godless
and undivine.

NO this thankfully and rightfully
will never ever come to be.
