New Age Poem by Michelle Hanes

New Age

Click, click, tap, tap
Better watch your back
With no privacy around
The littlest thing can give you a bad rap

Tap, tap, click, click
With keyboards and
Computers who needs
Ticonderoga or Bic?

Technology age, it's called
With all of this, I'm appalled
I'd rather be mauled
Than deal with this so-called
‘New Age'

Click that mouse
Tap on that keyboard
I'd think you get better privacy
From a sibling or spouse

I'd lie to say I hate it
At the same time I still
Love it, but love hurts so,
Get a first aid kit

It's great they say,
I answer okay
To the lies and obey
And deal with the bleak and grey
‘New Age'

I swear I'd rather deal with a school day
But wait, technology is there too
They're all too dependent on this
But nothing you say can make their opinion sway

‘The Internet is great'
‘I see nothing wrong…'
Well if it's so perfect, then
Why bother with Internet security, mate?

Here we go with all the lies,
Don't they use their eyes?
To see the inevitable demise
Through this stuff's disguise
This, ‘New Age'

Oh, didn't you know?
We're being hacked by spies,
Through your precious internet
That's why we need security, and so

You love the internet
You use the internet
You hate the internet
But I doubt you know much about it, I bet

This stuff is going to ruin,
Us, baby it's a shoo-in
That they're going to do-in
Us, so get a clue in
About this ‘New Age'
