New Me Poem by ANJALI KAKATI

New Me

Tossing away restlessly
Another night,
Sleepless with desire.
I wonder,
If I am living
Yet another dream,
Or is this
Another life?

But I did catch your eye
And in them
A glimpse of me.
Shameless,
Naked with
No abandon,
Just aching with desire.
Like the cool breeze
Who got lifted,
In the whirlwinds stride.
Its fire.

I feel the new me
Utterly beautiful,
Recklessly brazen.
No dark chains to clamp
My rainbow wings,
Their flight.

I hear the new me
Crooning the song of sunshine,
Bright, fresh notes
Not a touch of melancholy.

You sure have magic fingers
Love,
For no longer am i
The caterpillar
Crawling its painful path.
I am now this rainbow butterfly…
Just give me your hand
I am ready to fly.
