New Word: Fough

Rating: 5.0

Some said fough should be heard as 'fup'
as, for hiccough, we say 'hiccup.'

Others said 'foff, ' 'fuff' or 'foe'
as in cough, tough and dough.

Some said, 'Say the 'ough'
as in bough.'

'But what about 'ough'
as in Maryborough? '

Others fought for the sound of 'awe.'

As it had never had meaning before,
somes and others were pretty stuck
as to how to say new word: fough.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Paul Warren 23 October 2016

I saw a doc on the English language and how it developed. It seems to have had a number of influences and that could explain to different ways to pronounce words I suppose. One person lamented the changes made to the language and wanted us to go back to the old ways.
