New Year Poem by Joe Ray

New Year

This year is now old, with 365 days told, and a final night will ensure the past has been sold.

We look at the clock, watching the expectant hours tick by, and crowds surround us on an atmosphere high.

The world’s biggest party has started, an invitation for everyone, and a good-natured expectation to relax and have fun.

One night of the year to toast good will to others who share the best of intension, and make resolutions for you to follow, without any apprehension.

Those hands will sail around the face of the clock, embracing a new years voyage, with this ship of time, now leaving her dock.

It is approaching twelve, time now winning its race, the worlds people will greet it with a smiling face.

Many prepare to hug, kiss and shake hands, with a fondness of heart being their only demands.

The hands of time caress until midnight is near, and the seconds counted down, the suspense is so clear.

Outside attention is drawn to calm, black, starlit skies, a canvass prepared to embrace many firework cries.

Happy New Year, Happy New Year, to the people of a world we all share, we must keep trying to work together to show that we care.
