Night Companions. Poem by dave lessard

Night Companions.

Rating: 5.0

The stars are big and bright this evening
I see planets in dark space
inside, there is but me
of you, there is no trace.
The night sky's full of light
too many stars to number
they keep me company
until I need to slumber.
You never said goodbye you know
no note to say adieu
no note of where you are
but that was nothing new.
You kept your secrets well my love
you were hard to figure out
good at hiding things
of what you were about.
I can't say who's right or wrong
does it really matter?
how easy our love died
how easy our heart shatters.
Here comes the moon, my new mate
a crescent hung in black
reminding me of old love
which now I sorely lack.
