Night Light Poem by Dustin Newman

Night Light

Into the night the little wings beat.
Within ones body does the light show.
Lost without guidance, ready to retreat.
A small soothing light that begins to glow.

Absent of manner, style or grace.
Wandering here, there, too and fro.
It hears a thunder. But out of place.
What is this noise? You soon shall know.

A clink. A clank. A huff and a putter.
Wings beat faster to escape the plight.
Gotta move faster. Move like no other.
Gotta think quicker and advance the night.

Out goes the signal to alert its attention.
Movement is halted. Safe at last.
*CLANK* goes the lid with solid intention.
Locked in a jar, a bottle, a glass.

It tightens the lid to keep in the glow.
No where to fly. A casket now dug.
Down it does sit. Little does it know.....
.....A hole I now see.....escapes the lightning bug.
