Nightmare Poem by Maddy Jones

Nightmare

At twilight's time,
It's time for bed,
It's time to sleep,
So rest your head,

In your bed's warmth,
You shall sleep,
But in your slumber,
You shall weep,

A good dream turns,
A nightmare comes,
A nightmare burns,
A trick is done,

Heart is a-thump,
Enveloped in fear,
Drenched in sweat,
Torture is near,

Swiftly awake,
Calming nerves,
Wipe the sweat,
Repose is served,

Finding relief,
A nightmare aloof,
Only to find,
It's about to come true.
