No Mourning Poem by Randy McClave

No Mourning

Before I close my eyes
I first realize,
That I might not wake up tomorrow
Will there be any sorrow.
Would anyone cry any tears
Or would some give out cheers,
If I never woke up
And drank from my morning cup.
But, this one fact I think
As I give the world a wink,
I did my very best
To always help the rest.
I go to bed with a clear mind
My soul has already been defined,
I have forgiven those who have done me wrong
For joy and peace I do long.
No one have I ever used
No one have I ever abused,
And no one have I taken advantage of
I enjoy being in love.
I have never robbed, broke promises or stole
For Christmas I have never received any coal,
And as long as I do live
I always do enjoy to help and give.
When I close my right eye
There is never a told lie,
And then when I close my left
There is never any bereft.
So, when I go to sleep
From sadness I do not ever weep,
And if I don't awaken in the morning
From hate and jealousy and sin there'll be no mourning.
