Tears and fears
Broken gears
Cogs that slipped
I have tripped
Nothing is real
I can't even feel
It all is dead
The blood is red
Through thick fog
Continue to slog
Head's just not right
Lost to all sight
Today she'll die
I understand why
Still there's pain
And tears like rain
I failed once more
To find the cure
What to say
When this is the day
But at such cost
All alone and lost
I will never forget
That your sun has set
Goodbye my friend
May your agony end

Poet's Notes about The Poem

An email friend in the Netherlands has chosen today to die. I've done everything I can to get through to her. If I push any more she'll just shut me out and then she'll have no one left. All I have left is prayer and yet she tries to deny me that too.

Its mentally crippling when you try and try but you cant succeed in convincing them to live. However it is their choice as you recognise and we will respect it and their living days when they are gone. I hope you come off out of this not too greatly hurt.

poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti

A little while a little love
The hour yet bears for thee and me
Who have not drawn the veil to see
If still our heaven be lit above.
Thou merely, at the day's last sigh,
