Non-Violent Protest Versus Insurrection Poem by Terence George Craddock

Non-Violent Protest Versus Insurrection

Rating: 5.0

great power at corrupted fingertips
is often infected with insulated
security diseases arrogance...

cruelty, inhumanity, inflicted
upon the weak and powerless;
Mahatma Gandhi discarded

the security of privilege and suits
to wear the mantle of the vulnerable
then advocated non-violent protest

to achieve more enlightened
humane peaceful change political;
but we must warning remember

while this against the British worked
it would not could not have succeeded
against death camps Nazi Germany

the fair play stiff upper lip British
were not sadistic brutality prepared;
to wash Queensberry rules hands

in oceans of innocent blood
slaughtering civilized beautiful people
like splattered crushed bugs

one vital miraculous constant
remains invincible necessary;
soul saving defining courage

esteemed morality honour sacrifice
by brave indomitable people willing
to claim inalienable human rights

can achieve impossible change
cowardice indifference looking;
potential survival odds other ways

encourages cruelty brutality
injustice opportunist crimes
against cowering humanity...
