Ah, the sweet blissfulness of nostalgia;
it can be our hand tool
when the crazed institution called life
leaves us as an empty vagabond.
We can revisit
the gleaming moments of our past
and indulge ourselves
in the ardent summer sun it has to offer.
It can rid us of our tears
and share its serenity with us.
It can be our stimulus that provides us
with the same rush of adrenaline
that hearing our favorite song would.
The disembodying experience
can cure our combat fatigue,
revitalize our tender spirits,
and leave us feeling healthful.
Ah, the sweet blissfulness of nostalgia;
There’s nothing like it.
Absolutely, the rhythm makes this one. And i can understand nostalgia at 21. The good old times were so much easier to think about when they weren't so far away. Some things i look back on now and have my doubts whether anything that good really could've happened, or if it's just part of some short story i'm working on. Some frown on nostalgia, but some will tell you that if you can get something enjoyable out of something, don't fight it. Sainthood is born of sin, and martyrdom is murder. Happy Good Friday everyone! Back in my day.....
You are so right, there are moments past that shall continue -last, all bringing smiles for the heart Take care Michael Love duncan X
They say Nostalgia is given to us in exchange for our youth. A drug to ease the pain of aging bones and failing memories. One song, one sound, one place, one thought, all with the power to bring you back to the best times of your life. Very nicely done, how you concede the pleasantry of recall as an after thought. Good job. -War
Put like this Michael it is tempting to surrender to the present and reside only in the past, though the rhythm of the piece has the feeling of Spring about it and, with it, better things to come.

Nostalgia captured perfectly. A ten. Sincerely, Connie Webb (Recently I have been having fun looking at toys from the 50's and 60's when I was a kid, so I really appreciated your poem.)
