Not A Third Time Poem by Kimberly Lindsey

Not A Third Time

Once, long ago, I knew happiness.
You stole my heart away.
It was full to the brim,
Of my love for you,
And you carelessly tossed it away.

A second time, I trusted you,
Only to be blindsided again.
You dropped my heart in the dirt,
It would seem,
And now, you want it back, again.

I can give you my heart,
You held it all along,
I can’t take it back,
My love for you is strong.

But trust you I can not,
You must earn it this time,
A fool for you twice,
But not a third time.
