Not Alone Poem by Barbara Villabol

Not Alone

Space, light, energy, life, love
Is that God?
I pray, I ask, I am granted
Love, discernment, wisdom beyond myself
Is that God?
I saw illness and suffering
And I asked for mercy for her
My mother died that day
I was berated by a husband who
Had, “expectations”
I was never enough because he always
Felt cheated
No one, no thing could ever
Fill him to satisfaction
I prayed
And a door opened
Who or what is hearing me?
I read scripture
And wisdom from so far speaks
To me today, now
Jesus walked on this earth
I think of His life and teachings
I feel that I am not alone
