Not Alone Poem by Ruth Game

Not Alone

I don't know when I got to know,
That you were there to help me through,
I searched & gazed right into space,
To find answers you already gave.

How aimlessly I walked through ways,
I never knew were not for me.
But You Oh Lord came after me,
To show the road that leads to thee.

How foolish was I then to doubt,
When You were there for me to look out.
I thought the road was hard & fled.
& there again, was lost in space.

Once more you came right after me,
& said oh child walk carefully.
The road you walk on is pretty
But in the end you won't be eased.

If heaven is what you seek my child
Then walk with me I'll be your guide,
& if you think you need to rest
I'll give you strength to pass the test.

& I again, thought in dismay,
How could this be the easy way?
You read my mind & then you smiled
& held my hand just like a friend.

Then gently you explained to me
These hurdles are not for fear to be,
They're only here to build your strength
& in the end, you'll get what's best.

I asked then Lord, how could this be?
Your love for me like eternity.
I left so many times & ran
But still you came to hold my hand

I doubted, feared & disbelieved
Yet, still you came to my relief
You smiled & said my little child.
I'll love you till the end of time.

I created you with my own hands,
I knew your thoughts & all your plans
How could I then leave you behind?
& rule the heavens, leaving you in pine.
