Not Home For The Holidays Poem by Cat Ducat

Not Home For The Holidays

'I won't be home for the Holidays,
I am stuck here in the war.'
Mothers, Fathers, Sons, and Daughters.
Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, Cousins.
No matter who, no matter when,
not everyone is home for the holidays.
We appreciate those who are sent to war
to defend this righteous country.
We feel for those who can't spend Christmas, Hannukah, or Kwanzaa,
with their families.
Those who are stuck in the war.
Maybe they will come back for another holiday,
but war is not predictable.
Some may not come back, some may.
We are still here, stand for our country, and all we can do is hope.
So lets thank the God or Gods, or reigning figure,
for those who sacrifice for us.
We thank those who sacrifice for us and hope for their return
I thank my cousin, who nearly died. Is still messed up from the war, with his brain damage. I wrote this as a thanks, to those who won't be home for the holidays.
Those who sacrifice for their country.
