Not To Be Sent As A Valentine Poem by Sheena Blackhall

Not To Be Sent As A Valentine

The web is awash with love songs
Poets thrash out a tsunami of testaments to amour

Go into Asda on February 15th
See all the floral bunches
Half price, looking hunched and bedraggled
Moth eaten roses, the vastly overpriced
Cut down to size

When Cupid pierces the heart
He also impales the head
With his natty little dart
Colours the eyes of clarity
With a rosy fug

Just saying, before you splurge on that expensive card
Set your alarm
Love comes with side effects
Can cause serious harm
