Nothing

To think of time
In retrospection
Rolling down
In grandeur lone
Toward where unknown
No end and no beginning
Yet it flows on and on
To think of today
And when the day is done
In the following day
There shall be no today
For today is yesterday's tomorrow
Tomorrow is yesterday's today
Yet we see ages well past
And staring at us as curious as ever
Life has a beginning
Life has an end
Time planted the seed
And see ends on different sides
With your birth
Comes happiness
And with your death
Shall come sadness
Have you ever guessed?
We would not continue for ever
The future would be nothing to us
This joy and sorrow
This wealth and health
Dear to us everything
Yet they are nothing
We strive and we gain
We strive and we fail
In the end we die
Leaving behind everything
Yet taking with us nothing
From anger and pride,
From pain and suffering
What will we gain
Perhaps nothing
If to-day is nothing
If past is nothing
If future is nothing
They are just as surely nothing
