Nothing More To You Poem by Angel Payne

Nothing More To You

Rating: 5.0

I hope to be nothing more
than the lint in your pocket
the loose hair on your head
the kink in your bed sheets
the rip in your stockings...
I hope to be nothing more
than the cotton in your mouth
the blister on your arm
the cast on your leg
the fracture in your skull...
I really hope, I am nothing more to you.

I hope that I am nothing more
than a leak from the upstairs bathroom
a creak in the door I forgot to fix last week
a fire alarm on low batteries
the puddle you step in, wearing your Red Bottoms...
the sweater you lost
the wallet that was stolen
the call you got from jail
the operator who requested the credit....
I hope I am nothing more
that a mere speck on a plate you didn't wash well enough
the penny on the floor you passed
the clouds on a grey day
the mattress in the alley way.
The glass in the street.
I hope to be nothing more to you,
Because you are nothing more to me.
