Nudging Poem by Holly Jamestone

Nudging

Nudging my heart
The way rain taps on the window
As it waits for the walking umbrellas
And splashing feet to come out and play

Always there filling the recesses
And permeating my thoughts
Though I wish it would relent
And set me free

Free, Dear One
From the thoughts of you
Those bittersweet heartwrenching
Memories of a love that wasn't ours

Untaken seasons, memories bittersweet
A pain so fierce I often
Change the subject in my mind
Caressing who I need to be

Nudging my heart
And ripping out my soul
Again and again in punishment
For not protecting it the first time
