Nursing Poem by Kayla Lines

As a child I played nurse,
fixing my teddies ills and ails.
Stitching them up when they developed a leak

Now as an adult I am a nurse
helping people to fix their ills and ails
and seeing someone leave my care happy and healthy is the ultimate goal

When someone asks how do you deal with it
the vomiting, the peeing, the blood,
i say, when you have seen what I have seen those are the least of your worries.
but I would never change those experiences,
they have changed me.
Seeing the pain people deal with on a daily basis
and how they leave mentally and physically stronger
this has made the biggest impact.
These are the people I will spend my life trying to make happy.
