O Dear Child Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

O Dear Child

O dear child

How much happy I was?
When night had no pause
Drums and band was beating outside
You were born on that night

I was truly excited
And felt elated
Oh! But what is this happening?
I was losing the grip over awakening

The death gods were pulling me upward
I wanted see new born with motherly word
No, they were cruel and lifted me
I was no more human body but totally free

I cried for help but no one could
Listen to my cry as I was dead
My body only was laid here
I was taken from here

The baby did not call me back
I was sacked from this world
My child, you take care of your self
Serve the family as sea shelf
