Objection To Learning Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Objection To Learning

Lessons to learn them,
Should not take...
Embarrassment to achieve.
Or a brick wall to hit,
One's fist or head against.
To experience pain.
Only felt by the one...
Stubbornly receiving it.

Few have gained understanding.
With wisdom to comprehend.
Each stage of life,
To graduate to another...
There will be tests to pass.
Some are up to the challenge.
And others will use every excuse possible,
To have it believed...
Their efforts to endeavor,
Had been achieved without someone...
Making them do something,
For their benefit.
When others could care less what they did.

"They made me do this.
They made me do that! "

-And...
Who made them do what they did,
To make you do what was done? -

"I...uh...
I honestly don't know."

-Well...
In some places,
They are call teachers.
Parents.
Guidance counselors.
And...
Believe it or not,
An older sister or brother.
Told to make sure a younger sibling,
Is shown what to do or be punished.-

"And...
Your objection to learning,
Was what? "
