Obvious Poem by Weldon Davis

Obvious

Rating: 5.0

Your beauty goes without saying
Intoxicated by your laugh
I can't help but smile
Your lips snarl and pout
And bring new life to parts of my soul
I had forgotten about
Hadn't experienced in a while
But that goes without saying...

My sweetest dreams
Are of you
Even when I'm bare foot and bleeding
Walking upon shards of broken pencils
In the moonlight
I walk strong
Hoping you'll see me
As I am
That goes without saying...

That I'm gonna need some answers
To some kind of special prayer
Cause I've been through hell and back
Just to find you
And I swear
Once I have you in my grip
I'll never let you go this time
The stakes are too high
The love is too deep
And I could not deal with
Another separation from you
That goes without saying...

It's obvious in the way that I move
The mood
Melancholy
Every night every thought leaves
A fresh bruise
On my conscience

All I know is
Where you stop I end
Where you start up
I begin
You pour in insights
I never knew existed
It's like seeing the world
With fresh eyes
And pure innocence

In that very moment
I'm never more happy, joyous, and free
That goes with out saying...

You are the love of my life
That goes without saying...

That goes without saying...

You come and go like the wind
As you please without saying
Leaving me bare, naked, and broken
And it's obvious
The whole world sees this

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Wow! Totally love the emotion pouring from your heart into this wonderfully romantic poem. Seeing all the wonder and goodness that love gives to us, then the melancholy sadness of the inability of not being able to hold on to it, as it is always and only given temporarily to each of us. Poignant and beautifully stated, give it a 10! Thank you so much for sharing it! RoseAnn

Once again thank you for your gracious review of my poem.. :) ...This was one of those poems that as I wrote it I had one thing in mind, but as it progressed it became about something completely different..The line about walking on broken pencil shards came to me in a dream...as does a lot of my more creative lines in my poetry...
