Ode To Benedict Poem by mutt barker

Ode To Benedict

Rating: 5.0

There are two sides to every conflict, and when benedict switched sides, well here is one angle to the story

Benedict Arnold

Cunning and Brave,
Captured Fort Ticonderoga and won Connecticut
Though he lost Valcour Island,
The British payed dearly for it

Continental Congress Passed him over
Other generals stole credit for his successes.
Political adversaries charged corruption
in his time of financial need

Americas new alliance with France
Benedict could not agree.

Without his daring do,
The revolution would have lost

Yet America Treated a hound better.

Arnold, our New Jesus If Only
You had stayed for us to crucify

Switched allegiance
Narrowly escaped our grasp

We Howl at you, our New Moon.
