Ode To Gordon Lightfoot Poem by Patrick Fealy

Ode To Gordon Lightfoot

Now they've gone and done it
They've  killed the golden goose
lightfoot on the mantle place
Lost songs of love and truth
doctors sworn to slaughter
Grim Reapers bent on death
The needle and the damage done
left him all too short of breath
Now he's  feeding daisies
face up to the sky
Watching as the moon rolles past
Let us bid him fond goodby
Silver wings of summer
Lift the minstrel home
Carry him to paradise
where the angels sing their songs
The loon will make her plaintive cry
when winter comes again
What minstrel will console us now
We have lost a dearest friend
