Confession Poem by Patrick Fealy

Confession

Rating: 5.0

I did forget but I'll confess
those nights that brought me lifelessness
Each lost embrace, each tepid kiss
that failed to fill her soul with bliss
In every sense I was deprived
when she became another's bride
Yes I have wandered in the ways
that broke the vow I should have made
I now renounce what I'll confess
her soft embrace, her lost caress
except for one forgotten jewel
a kiss when we were back at school
I must admit I was surprised
when I beheld her starlit eyes
beside the doorway of her porch
For decades now I've held that torch
Please pardon me. I'm stealing this
that one revoked redacted kiss
a gift of love I won't renounce
God pardon me what I pronounce
when I am judged by Paradise
I'll pay with this my every vice
