Ode To Pals Of Politics Poem by Purusottam Chuli

Ode To Pals Of Politics

O my dear pals of politics!
I beseech you not to be whimsical
In thought-speech-deed ever;
For eagle of investigation is there
To swallow you like a living bait.

Remember, you are no longer
Sovereign nor your dictates; There prevails
Sovereignty of law which has put some of
Your kith and kin behind bars for their
Acts of commission and omission.

What you order right turns wrong
When you are no longer in power;
Hence, you have turned vulnerable species
Waiting for extinction at the altar of Rule of Law!

What, then, is the use of your oratory-manoeuvre
If the supreme law of the land prevails
Every nook and corner of the Motherland?

O rulers! Come to sense;
Before returning to dust-
Don't bite the stain of dust;
Do something that is best.
