Of Course Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Of Course

It is not wanted.
Yet appears, of course...
With no one to notice,
The time it took...
For them to ignore it.
And accept.
Expecting, sooner or later...
Someone feeling brave enough,
To admit being responsible.

This...
Represents,
The kind of insight...
That lacks hindsight.
However,
It is in one's expression...
Of being appalled,
That seems appropriate.
And the right thing to do.
In times when making impressions,
Gets what one seems.
And that would be?

"Attention? "

The best.
Of course.
Depending upon locale.
And scene location.

It had been tolerated,
When an inner city problem.
Temporarily disgusting,
Those living in suburbia.
Leaving behind their negativity.
With pockets filled full,
Stolen office products.
Especially computer passwords.

While driving away,
Looking into rearview mirrors.
Thieves.
Passing judgements upon,
The ones barely existing...
In impoverished conditions.
To claim these are the people,
Threatening 'their' entitlements.
To deceive and feed,
Their ability to maintain...
Habits of selfishness and hypocrisy.

And,
Of course...
Accepting the incompetence and failures,
They seem to defend when it relates...
To those placed in high places.
Elected on the basis,
On looks and images falsely imitated.
Yet,
Refusing to accept...
Of course,
What affects their lives reflects...
Who they are.
As a people.
Incapable to associate what is observed,
To themselves as being involved.
With either the initiating,
Or implementing...
Problems they have created.
Without hesitating to accuse and place blame,
On the ones they made accustomed...
Of course,
To being victimized.

"And...
This event occurs,
Seasonally?
Or is this a rare cosmic thing?
And who are the ones most likely,
Not observant yet effected.
Is there any literature that explains this? "

And...
Of course,
What can be thought to be understood.
With clarity and comprehension,
Is often mistaken.
Looks and what appears to have intelligence,
No one should accept and take for granted.
Hopefully one day,
This lesson we all together will learn.
Hopefully!
