Of Mars Poem by Christina Ramirez

Of Mars

The night wraps around us as your arms caress my body, you make me feel wanted make me feel like somebody.
I can feel the faint breathing against my neck, glancing down to see if I'm asleep, five times in a row you'll check.
I close my eyes and everything disappears and only you and I exist.
You reach down and grab my face and twice not once did you leave my lips kissed.
You gently brush the hair from my face and look intensely into my eyes.
I try to look away, try not to let him see my feelings, a gift I must disguise.
Can he read my thoughts?
See my faults?
He tells me everything I want to hear and with one sentence he makes everything perfectly clear.
'The possibilities that only one night can bring.'
He makes me feel beautiful without even saying a word
Where have you been?
Lurking within the shadows, ceasing to exist until this night
When I cuddle next to your chest as you hold me tight.
The color of your eyes makes me feel safe within your grasp.
Everything overwhelms me and your the air I need when I'm required to take a breath
I've never felt this way until I met you.
Never has a rush run through me, as when you kiss me
It's something so good, something so true
Whether a peck on the cheek or a passionate kiss on the lips.
I can feel it all the way down to my finger tips
I never want it to stop
Never stop thinking of me when you leave
Please let that be a promise that you keep
Never stop holding me when you get the chance
Please keep this romance alive, continue to have the strive to make us live, to let us survive.
