Old Troublemaker Reflects Poem by Donal Mahoney

Old Troublemaker Reflects

Been in trouble
all my life
childhood through
old age.

I took the alleys
to get to school
never once
a street.

Girls in uniforms
and boys in ties,
they took streets
and acted nice.

But I had always
in my back pocket
an old black tie
knotted.

At school I'd pull it
over my head so
the teacher wouldn't
whack me.
