On Christmas Eve Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

On Christmas Eve

Rating: 5.0

On Christmas Eve, night cold and crisp
Sky glittering with stars, all quiet and still
Snow begins to fall thick and fast
Trees, roofs sparkling with snowflakes.
Children lay abed trying to stay awake
Wanting to see rotund red-coated Santa
Jolly rosy-cheeked elderly bearded man
Bringing presents with Christmas cheer
Wanting to hear soft jingle of sleigh bells
Drum beat of reindeer hooves in harness
Landing gently upon rooftop above.
Faithful gathering at midnight in churches
Celebrating birth of Jesus Christ
Praying for lasting peace and love.
