On that day he came to me
To sorrow I was bound,
My burdens weighing heavily,
What little joy I found
Heaven's lamp had long been dark
And then he lit the flame,
He took my sorrows for his own,
Does such love have a name?
All my doubts started to fade
Like dew upon the sea,
The latch was raised, the door swung wide,
The captive dove was free
On that night he came to me
Stars danced across the sky,
The angels leaned out of heaven
To smile..... and then to sigh
Heaven heard my whispered prayer
And all the tears I cried,
They sent this man to comfort me,
Now, to his heart I'm tied
Strange! ... the warmth of one dear friend
Could melt a frozen sea,
Shadows lifted, the sun shone bright,
On that day he came to me
