On The Rocks Poem by NikMorgan The 2nd

On The Rocks

Rating: 3.0

Any given weekend
Late night eggshell ballet
Time bomb ticking
Think before you say
Too much
Whiskey sours
Mood and the man
A victim cowers
Condemned man
Listening for the door
It's a terrible deja-vu
Oblivious yet so sure

This is a scotch mist
Past and future collide
Loss of control
Freeing the monster inside
Aggro fire-breath
Heating the moment
Escalating rage
Then self serving atonement
Shame
In the cold light of day
Lip sync promises
The monster goes away

Wack from the daddyo
There's whiskey in his jar
He's been to the bottom of the bottle
He's always near to too far
