On The Wall Poem by Devin Lasker

On The Wall

Like a quarter spinning to an end
Or a wheel on its last rotation
So it is that I must end this trend
Of you keeping me forever stationed

Through dirty spotted windows must I watch
Rotting like a used banana peel in the sun
As you drown yourself in your dirty scotch
Letting it over power you like a madman with a gun

But no more will I be a poster hung upon your room’s wall
Instead I shall run free my back to you, my face to the wind
Twisting and turning whatever way, never to your call
For I am free and never again will I be stuck to your wall, a mirror of your sin
