Once Upon A Time Poem by Dans Only

Once Upon A Time

Rating: 5.0

Once,
There was a puppet.
It had no strings, only stuffing.
Staring, understanding eyes.
Caring, never judging.
I loved that puppet.
Now it's gone.

Once,
There was a book.
A child's book, who's pages
Were full of happiness;
From a child's point of view.
I loved that book.
Now it's gone.

Once,
There was a cat.
An orange cat, with a crooked tail,
Who preferred to be with me
Above anyone else.
I loved that cat.
Now it's gone.

Once,
There was a car.
An old and failing car.
It'd sputter and sob, when it ran.
Drove me wherever.
I loved that car.
Now it's gone.

Once,
There was a girl,
Who I liked, spending time with
Made me happy. Just being
With her; to hold her...
I loved that girl.
Now she's gone.

Once,
There was a feeling.
An emotion that filled me.
It defied time, who's passage
Could not erode it.
That feeling was love.

Melancholic Love, the stuff of poetry. Great write. I really liked this one. Plus the receding lines in each verse give it an added dimension..10.
