One Look

You looked me in the eye, today.
Oh my goodness, why?
So many days since I last saw you,
And now I see you look me in the eye.

I didn't expect to see you
Standing in that same old hall,
Dressed in black, not white.
Such a surprise, then you look me in the eye.

It's only for an instant,
Then we walk away again.
And now I can still remember,
Forever after, how you look me in the eye.

Connected for that single moment,
(But never again, I'm always afraid) ,
I wonder how you feel.
Just one look, you look me in the eye.
