One Sip Poem by Alex Cairnie

One Sip

I stare at you,
My silent friend;
Your there for me at each day's end
We talk at night, just us alone
I tell you things, my mind you own

You give me warmth, when all is blue
You make me smile, you really do.
I cannot take it on my own
Our secrets safe, your mine alone.

We sit here in silence, just you and I
Together again, we share a cry
We are one sip away, from our combustible
past
But our friendship solid... will forever last

You have seen me at my weakest
And all my best bits too,
You have never ever judged me
You have supported all I do.

We have never shared an argument
No cross words, and no spite
I can fault you not in any way
You've been a friend alright.

I cannot wait to finish work,
And get straight home to you.
I cannot wait to end this day,
In peace, just me and you.

I hear you when u whisper
I hear you say my name
I feel you everywhere I go
I feel it everyday the same

I keep you all around me
In places no one knows.
We talk when no ones looking,
I'm at ease when you are close.

I wish they wouldn't interfere
And try to split us up.
I'm sick of all the orders
One sip from this last cup.

They are forcing me to leave you
Say that you will be my end,
That we, are incompatible
And my demons I must mend.

I've chosen family over you,
A choice I had to make.
If I'm honest, time was running out
This chance I had to take.

I'll never say I hated you
Your with me every day.
But I'll never ever take you back
No matter what you say.

You lived with me, inside my head
And ruled my life each day.
You made me want to leave this earth,
But I found the strength to stay.

One sip was how it all began
One sip a baited hook
But now your just a memory
One step was all it took.
