One Tide Poem by Judith Vriesema

One Tide

When I hear you awaken in the soul of my dream,
I see the wind run and chase you in the early keflavik light.
I know
the music that composes itself and knits a sweater of wool
that I wrap around my heart.
Notes fall,
you see,
like drops of rain,
and snowflakes from your eyes light the night with so many stars.
Blue water is all I paint.
In keflavik,
the sun teases the snow that falls across your soul.
When the clouds follow you home,
music reverberates through my heart.
In half dream-light,
green and blue merge into a pool of snow;
life forever held within the poetry that is the north sea,
love composed upon a piano,
a symphony just beginning in the embrace of the tides.
