Only For Love Poem by julie kops

Only For Love

What made you believe that my song was for sale
That the glory of my colors would come with a price
I am not afraid of love's wilderness of thorns
Being true to my heart never felt like a sacrifice

This soul will only burn for the hope of passions fire
You shame yourself by believing any less of me
What a sad world you must reside in dearest soul
To settle for anything less than life's greatest destiny

I would rather stand here alone in my stygian depths
Sing into the echo of endless silence for eternity
Than fall for a false warrior bound to greed
Thinking the world revolves around the love of money

I'm not impressed by what you own in this life
Rather I wonder why you don't help those less fortunate
When you preach of making the world a better place
Instead of using your gifts to accomplish it

You worry only for the balance in your bank account
Yet you could do so much good for other's in need
I promise you this heart was never for sale
This girl holds tightly to her native breed

Give freely of all that you are in this life
Treasure the earth for the glory of it's beauty
Or find you an empty shallow facade of a love
Who is willing to bow to your idol of money
