Only You Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Only You

Only you!
Yes...
You.
Can attempt to undo.
A doing done,
To prove.
Only you!
Yes...
You.
Knew what you did to start.
Rushed from head.
And not from your heart.
Without thought or advice.
To consider the consequences.
With it using common sense.
Or pretending some of it you had.

Only you.
Believe you can accuse.
Then refuse to be held accountable.
Or responsible for the confusion,
Only you implemented to cause.
Yes.
Only you knew what you did.
Regardless who would pay the cost.

Now.
You want the chaos to stop.
As if it was a joke.
Provoking others into anger.
Laughing into the streets.
From lessons heard you 'jokingly' preached.

Only you.
Ego drenched with self interest.
And attention meant to seek.
Will need now more than only you,
To mend divisions.
From senseless decisions,
Only you had made.
That has escalated from a hatred,
Of yourself.
Where it began to have originated.

Only you.
Yes...
You!
Can attempt to undo.
A doing done to prove,
You have a heart.
A soul.
And a mind to use with common sense.
But...
Who would believe this?
Who would believe this of you.
Even if they spent time,
Pretending to make attempts to do it.
