Open Your Eyes Poem by Rachel Brewer

Everyone can see the horror in this world,
The wars, the death, the madness,
But people rarely take the time to see all of the wonderful things.
This world, our home, there is joy to be found.
Take the time to look, and I assure you, you will find it.
Open your eyes.
Look up at the sky and study the clouds.
Really take things in, sights, smells, make the most of it while it’s here.
We are only alive for a short amount of time,
So if we don’t see the good on Earth, then it wasn’t worth visiting.
Our brief stay would have been for nothing.
So please, open your eyes.
See all of the laughter and happiness,
See all of the love in life,
I promise you that all these things will overpower the evil.
Once you’ve truly seen this beautiful world you will be so happy,
Find yourself in a song, or a poem,
And the joy will shine through.
I mean it open your eyes.
